| 12/10/08 at 16:01 hrs. HFPD was called to the 5500 block of Lindale Drive for the report of smoke in a kitchen. Upon arrival, HFPD found food in a micro-wave oven which had burnt. No other damage resulted in the incident. Niantic and Warrensburg responded with automatic mutual aid. HFPD E-343, E-344, C-351 & 352 responded |

Auto Accident |
| 11/21/08 HFPD was called at 03:40 hrs to a single MVA on I-72 MM 134. R-341, E-343, C-1 & 2 responded. The vehicle drove off the interstate and down onto West Grand Avenue. The driver sustained serious injuries. |

11/19/08 at 16:24 hrs. HFPD was called to assist the Macon County Sheriff’s Office search for a lost person in the area of Lincoln Homestead State Park. The person was located uninjured. HFPD responded with 8 ATVs, Boat 347, R-341, C-351, R-342 and OPS-349. |

Explosion |

On 11/6/08, HFPD was called to the 100 block of Western Drive to investigate the cause of an explosion in a residence. C-351 responded along with an insurance company investigator. No injuries resulted in the explosion. |

11/3/08 at 19:45 hrs HFPD was called to the scene of a single Motor Vehicle Accident in the 6100 block of West Main Street. R-341, E-343 and C-351& 352 Responded. There were no injuries. |

11/1/08 HFPD Boat 347, Rescue 342 and C351 were called to Logan County to assist in recovery and sonar scanning of a pond near Mt. Pulaski following the discovery of a vehicle in the pond. The vehicle was recovered and there were no injuries involved. |

Field Fire |
|
10/31/08 HFPD was called to the 8500 block of Bruce Road at 11:45 hrs for a report of a standing corn field fire. Upon arrival HFPD units found about two acres on fire and called Niantic FPD for assistance. A tractor was in the field tilling around the fire and the wind was pushing the flames toward the road instead of into the standing corn which helped reduce the spread of the fire. The fire was ignited by hot embers falling from an operating combine. There were no injuries. Squad 345 and Rescue 342 responded. |

Auto Accident |

10/30/08 at 19:49, HFPD was called to the I-72 MM for a single Motor Vehicle Accident. A motorist struck a deer and then ran off the road into the ditch. The vehicle sustained damage and the deer was killed. The driver or his passengers were not injured. R-341, E-343, C-351 and C-352 responded. |

Gas Leak |

10/28/08 at 10:26 HRS. HFPD E-344 responded to a report of a natural gas leak in the 4800 block of West Main Street. The leak was located at a piping fixture in a secondary line. A contractor was contacted to repair the problem. No evacuations were needed as it was a small outside leak. |

10/15/08 at 06:44 hrs. HFPD was called to assist Warrensburg FPD on a severe two vehicle accident at Il. Rt. 121 and Park Road. The drivers of both vehicles had to be extricated and received serious injuries. There were no other passengers. HFPD R-341, E343, C-352 and C-351 responded. |

10/13/08 at 21:50 hrs. HFPD was put on standby for South Wheatland FPD while they operated at a scene of a firetruck accident which claimed the life of a Blue Mound Firefighter. |

10/12/08 at 13:42 hrs. HFPD responded to an automobile fire on I-72, MM 131. The car was heavily involved upon arrival. No one was injured. E-343 and E-344 and C-352 responded. |

10/2/08 at 01:08 hrs. HFPD was called to assist Warrensburg FD on a First Alarm Structure fire in the 4400 block of North Bearsdale Road. The two story farm house was heavily damaged, but extensive salvage operations by fire companies saved many antiques and personal items. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. A Second Alarm was called as all water had to be brought to the scene by water tankers. Latham, Hickory Point, Niantic, Kenny and South Wheatland responded. HFPD E-343, T-346 and C-351 responded. |

Hazardous Materials Incident - Mutual Aid |

9/25/08 at 08:10 HFPD was called to assist Warrensburg FPD in the 9400 block of Heman Road for a large ammonia leak at a fertilizer plant. Nearly 40,000 gallons of ammonia was released creating a vapor cloud extending south for nearly a half mile. Il.Rt. 121 was closed for nearly 3 hours. Decatur FD Haz-Mat was called along with Latham, Maroa, Hickory Point, South Wheatland and Kenny Fire Departments. The Red Cross and Salvation Army were on scene to provide food and drinks for the responders. No one was injured. HFPD E-343, R-341, T-346 and C-352 responded. |

9/14/08 at 0851 HFPD was called to the 8500 block of Harristown Blvd. for a report of multiple cars off of the road due to high water across the roadway from recent heavy rains. No one was injured but all three cars had damage as well as a bridge guardrail. Rescue 341, E-343 and C-351 responded. |

9/10/08 at 0900 hrs, HFPD was called by the Macon County Sheriff’s Office to assist them in searching for and recovering a stolen pickup truck in a barrow pit on Cemetery Road near Newburg. R-342 and Boat 347 responded. The search lasted for two days resulting in a Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck being recovered. The truck had been stolen from a local repair garage. |

Brush Fire |

8/31/08 at 15:16 hrs, HFPD was called to a report of a brush fire on I-72 at MM 134. Squad 345 responded and extinguished the fire along the roadway. |

Motorcycle Accident |
|
On 8/27/08 at 10:59 hrs, HFPD was called to the 4000 block of West Main Street for a report of a motorcycle accident. On arrival HFPD found a motorcycle on its side and an injured person beside it. The rider was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Rescue 341 responded. |
